Media Smart lessons in digital advertising literacy
Source: OFCOM's Media Literacy Bulletin
Media Smart, the non-profit media literacy programme for school children aged six to 11 years old, is developing a set of free materials for primary school teachers on digital advertising. The new online teaching pack will provide teachers with examples of digital and online advertising, as well as supporting materials to teach core media literacy skills to primary school children.
The materials, called Digital Adwise, will be the third set developed by Media Smart. The materials will be available online, and consist of interactive online lessons to be used by small groups of pupils on classroom computers or with whole classes via interactive whiteboards.
The lessons will use examples of advertising and digital marketing techniques, and include easy-to-use teachers' notes and interactive pupil activities.
As with all Media Smart materials, the new lessons have been developed in close cooperation with Media Smart's Expert Group.
